Insurance companies often require you to fail on a cheaper medication before approving the one your doctor actually recommends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Neil shared, his doctor once told him he\u2019d need to \u201cdo worse\u201d on paper before qualifying for a CGM\u2014despite the clear benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI thought the goal was to get better,\u201d he said. \u201cBut the system made me feel like I had to fail first.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This process can delay effective treatment, increase stress, and put people at risk. But it\u2019s not hopeless\u2014there are steps you can take.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Navigate Insurance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Blue Circle Health care team has helped hundreds of people navigate these exact hurdles. Keep asking, keep documenting, and keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Hidden Costs of Prior Authorizations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even when things <em>should<\/em> be simple\u2014like refilling a glucagon prescription\u2014insurance rules can throw up new barriers. When Neil\u2019s prior authorization changed without warning, he was billed $33 for a bottle of glucose tablets instead of receiving the emergency medication he needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s not just frustrating.
